There is strong evidence that Canada is facing a serious youth mental health crisis. The mental health of children and youth seems to have worsened over the past decade, especially during and after the COVID - 19 pandemic. Reports suggest increasing rates of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and suicidality particularly among young women and girls (PubMed, Mental Health Hospitalizations in Canadian Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults over the Covid 19 Pandemic). It is imperative we make mental health services accessible and focus on primary prevention. Not only will Resilient Roots Kids Camp help prevent mental health issues for our future kids, but help kids build resilience in all aspects of their lives. Building resilience in kids through mental health activities can help them handle challenges, build confidence, adapt to change, and develop a positive outlook. Camp activities are backed by science to improve resilience and overall well - being.
